2020 Kenosha Police Shooting of Jacob Blake
On August 23, 2020, police in Kenosha, WI shot a 29-year-old Black man named Jacob Blake multiple times during a domestic disturbance. The shooting left Blake paralyzed from the waist down and sparked several nights of protests and riots. I was on the ground that night and those that followed, one of the first on the scene, reporting for WTMJ-TV on-air and online. In the process, I documented and shared content in real-time on social media. The traction and engagement my footage and posts received digitally, resulted in national outlets picking them up — sourcing, citing, and embedding my work within their coverage.
